Saving Energy – LUB & TVA
The forecast for this week calls for some of the hottest temperatures of the year I wanted to provide you details on how we plan to respond.
Due to the power demands, we will be following the procedural steps we have and request your voluntary energy curtailment.
Beginning today, July 27, 2021, we will enact Step 10 of our Emergency Load Curtailment (ELCP) program for Tuesday through Friday, 11:00-9:00 pm daily. This includes a request to curtail your energy usage.
The heatwave will continue through at least this weekend. LUB employees are working around-the-clock to keep you cool. At LUB, we plan for situations like this heatwave and our priority is to provide you reliable energy 24/7, every day of the year. During the heatwave, limiting the amount of power you use is one of best ways of minimizing higher power bills in the future.
During the hottest part of the day between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m., please
- turn your thermostat up – even one degree makes a difference – and avoid any unnecessary power use.
- Wash your dishes and clothes in the morning or later at night
- Turn off lights and unneeded electrical items
We are all impacted during this heatwave and, by helping conserve electricity where possible, we all can contribute to maintaining safe and reliable power for everyone at the lowest feasible cost.
Thank you for all your help during this hot weather voluntary energy curtailment period. Hang with us because it’s almost over!
We plan on ending this request at 7 PM Friday evening.
We appreciate your help.
We will keep you apprised as the forecast and system status change.
